Niʻihau Shell Earrings

This hands-on workshop is limited to 7 participants and offers an introduction to the meticulous process of creating Niʻihau shell jewelry.

 

Participants will learn about:

  • Gathering shells from the beach

  • Sorting shells by shape, size, and color

  • Cleaning and removing sand from each shell

  • Drilling each shell to create specific patterns when sewn

 

Participants will create either a pair of Niʻihau shell earrings (standard size: 1-inch) or a bracelet to take home. Longer earring options (2-inch or 3-inch) are available for an additional fee. 

 

Recommended for ages 12 and older.
Duration: 4 hours
Additional Supply Fees:

  • Earrings: $125 (1-inch), $150 (2-inch), $175 (3-inch)

Her lifelong dedication to this tradition reflects her deep connection to her island home and her desire to perpetuate the unique cultural legacy of Niʻihau.
