Loea & Dr. J. Kimo Alama Keaulana
J. Kimo Alama Keaulana, a seventh-generation practitioner in Hawaiian arts and culture, has 51 years of teaching various forms of hula. As one of two individuals versed in hula kuahu, Kimo has conducted workshops and presentations for esteemed institutions like the Bishop Museum and the Kamakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies.
Recognized for his contributions, Kimo received the Malia Kau Award in 2016 and a Lifetime Achievements Award from the Hawaiʻi Academy of Recording Arts in 2018. Currently serving as a Kumu Hula at Punahou School, Kimo was honored with an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in 2023.
